A recent fact-filled article published in the December issue of Engineering New Record (ENR) highlights the challenges the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is facing at its Kingston Power Plant near the Emory River, Tennessee, USA.
TVA is now one year into the projected four year $1 billion dollar project to clean up after an ash spill in December 2008.
Sevenson Environmental of Niagara Falls, New York, is using a fleet of Ellicott® Brand cutter suction dredges and booster pumps to perform its work. The dredges are working 24 hours per day, 6 days a week.
According to the article, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) made some good comments about the cleanup further noting, “… the crews are doing work ‘aggressively’ but without impact on the environment.”
