Systems Administrator

We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator whom is responsible for providing Tier 1 IT support to customers in a service desk environment and ensuring working computer systems across the organization. This individual is responsible for communicating effectively and working well with others in all locations to help maximize the full capability of our technology. Effectively communicate with the Wisconsin location and work as the liaison for the Baltimore location. The Systems Administrator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first contact with internal customers who need technical assistance via the phone or email.
  • Trouble and resolve all IT issues, both network and client workstation related.
  • Install, support and maintain all internal and external networks.
  • Perform daily systems monitoring and recommend upgrades / new applications as needed.
  • Execute system backups and recovery.
  • Manage email, anti-spam and virus protection.
  • Set up new user accounts, permissions and passwords.
  • Create, maintain and distribute IT Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Troubleshoot PC hardware and software in a Microsoft networked environment.
  • Adhere to escalation procedures to ensure all problems are resolved in a timely manner and with the highest level of customer service.
  • Provide quick resolution and excellent customer service.
  • Provide needed information on IT products and services.
  • Enter all calls into help desk ticketing system and update tickets according to organizational guidelines.
  • Provide training, guidance and technical support to all users.
  • Plan and implement future IT expansions and projects.
  • Follow-up as needed with internal customers.
  • Provide feedback on processes and make recommendations on areas to improve.
  • Maintain technical documentation and service catalog on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting.
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes and procedures with a positive and constructive attitude.
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing and live system updates.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment with individuals that are non-technical.
  • Work with third party support vendors when necessary.
  • Repairing, installing, upgrading and reconfiguring: PC’s, network switches, network printers and scanners.
  • Maintaining inventory and asset control records.
  • Some travel may be necessary as this position will also be cross trained to help cover our Wisconsin, Maryland, location.
  • Perform duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.

Education and/or Experience

Certificate or degree in a computer-related field; and 5 years of systems administration and technical support experience in assisting team members or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in computer systems and mobile devices including the MS Office Suite of products. Experience in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
