Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for installation, start-up, training and service of dredges around the world. Duties will include domestic and international on-site work with customers, as well as technical support over the phone. The priority of this position is to provide top-notch customer service. This position will complete extensive on-the-job training before traveling in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop understanding of all product lines to provide on-site service in the field, training and maintenance as required as well as in-office and shop floor support.
- Working from drawings, parts lists, and other related data; plan and perform assembly and installation at customer sites when needed.
- Inspection and testing of dredging equipment.
- Deliver superior customer service at all times by training customer personnel in equipment operation techniques and safety procedures as well as being a resource for expert technical assistance.
- Troubleshoot and remedy equipment operational problems.
- Supply data for engineering decisions or performance data as required.
- Develop positive relationships with customers and industry partners to assist both on-site and through other communication methods (phone, email or written correspondence).
- Maintain pertinent equipment records and prepare related reports when necessary.
- Communicate information and progress reports on a timely basis for customers.
- Travel to domestic and international customers (50-75% of time).
- Valid passport and drivers license is required with satisfactory driving record.
- Perform duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.

Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s degree from two-year technical college in a related field preferred and two years experience and/or training in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Broad knowledge of installation, troubleshooting and repair techniques on heavy equipment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical assemblies, and low voltage electrical switches/actuators and computers.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to troubleshoot and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current passport required and no history of declined visas, or entry refusal to any country. Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
